Welcome!

I am so excited to be learning alongside all of you.

My name is Kate, and I currently live in northern Alberta, outside of Grande Prairie, AB.

As part of my portfolio, I teach an eclectic mix of wellness and agriculture courses at the high school level.  The programs I teach incorporate team building, communication, conflict resolution and leadership skills; skills directly linked to participants feeling less anxious, less depressed, and more likely to use healthy coping strategies in times of stress.

Moving online has been a bit of a challenge.  In the spring, my goal is to transition our equine programs into a blended learning environment so components that don’t require students to be with the horse physically can be completed online.  Geographically, our division is very spread out, and the distance from communities to where we host our programs have certainly caused barriers to some families to be able to participate.  Fingers crossed that the silver lining in all of this is that moving forward our programming becomes more accessible!

Learning activity 2: Video describing my role, experience with online teaching and questions I might have.

I look forward to your introductions and getting to know you a little bit!

Have a wonderful day,

Kate
